David and I have been talking forever about getting a more "custom" blog... we just could never find the time to get around to it! So when I went to Jacksonville last week to shoot a party for The Knott Magazine (pictures coming soon!), I had some time to work on it! We are very excited to release www.thesublimeblog.com! I know there will be many more hours that go into this.. and alot of tweaks made.. but we have been shooting so much and I want to post it all on a clean fresh new site.

So please... if you are subscribed to us, or if you follow us on your google reader.. switch it to our new domain name so you can get all the updates and posts that will be coming soon! We have been shooting like crazy this past week so we have alot to catch up on!

This weekend has been crazy... and it is only Friday! This weekend alone we have: 3 weddings.. 1 engagement shoot.. 1 newlywed session... one bridal session...swimming lessons with Austin.. and of course his baseball game. Then church on Sunday! We are so busy.. but we love it! So needless to say.. I have alot of blogging to catch up on.. Brittany and & Megan.. your slideshows are coming!

We are excited to announce that we have made a new blog.. and will be un-veiling it soon! We are so excited to release it.. so keep an eye out followers and be ready to switch to our new domain name!

Well, I left Ashley a voicemail and text today saying that I did not know if we could shoot due to the weather. There was a fast moving storm sweeping through. We talked for a while about our options while I searched online. I found an hour gap between rain storms. We decided to move forward. After all, Ashley just finished her hair and makeup test run. I gave her props for scheduling her sessions before her engagement shoot. - DAVID

Many outside of our community may not know that we lost two of our deputies recently. Today, I was heading home from Ashley and Tim's shoot when I stopped for the passing funeral. Seeing the hundreds of policy officers passing moved me to tears. Please, pray for these officers' families and the other men and women that serve to protect us. - DAVID

Last weekend I had to honor to capture Melissa and Josh's day on Navarre Beach! I always love it when couples actually get married on our beaches because I personally think they are gorgeous! What a fun and exiting wedding last Saturday! Shooting at Seaside, FL is so unique. Heather and the other wedding coordinators there are some of the best in the business. Maxine & Lamar Are Married!

Sometimes you come across a couple who are so in love it just flows out of them. They cannot help but be happy.... and it is contagious! As we were driving down to Orlando I told David... you are going to like them! They are really nice and they laugh alot. Because that is what we did on their engagement shoot in Ybor City, Tampa... we laughed... ALOT! I liked them immediately because they laughed at my jokes.. and I am not that funny. ;)

Maxine & Lamar got married on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Lake Mary, FL which is right outside of Orlando. They scheduled to do everything ahead of time.. so we were able to go to Altamonte Springs and do all their formals at Uptown! We could not of asked for a more beautiful day. We love it when our clients become friends... and we think this is the beginning of a great friendship. :)

Austin scores!!!!!

Today was Austin's first soccer game! I was so excited to see how he would do! It is hilarious to watch them all play- they really do not understand the purpose of the game yet... but hopefully by the end of the season they will all be on the same page!

David is in Belize... so he missed the first game. :( But of course we videoed and took pictures of it all for him to see.

I grew up playing about every sport I could.. I have always been very competitive. It is a whole other world when you are watching your own kids play! I am still a "bit" competitive. Water breaks were a time when I "gently" encouraged him to run a "tad" faster... take the ball from the other kid and SCORE!

I looked at my dad and said "all I want is for him to score!"...... AND HE DID! He took the ball down the whole field and put it right in the goal. I was so excited that I ran down to him screaming to give him a high five. I hope that is what the other parents would of done! :) Otherwise I might be known as the loud one.

Anyways- here are a few of our soccer star and a clip of him scoring at the end! All of these pics are courtesy of my dad! Maybe he is where I get my photography skills from!

Leaving On a Jet Plane

Well, I am sitting in the Atlanta airport waiting for my Cancun flight. My IPod is playing "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and the AirTran employees are excited about this historic first flight. I feel fulfilled doing my mission work in Belize. There is just one item missing: that's my baby! Courtney couldn't make this planning trip and I am missing her already.

Courtney and I met years ago in the Florida Keys. We were friends for years until she joined me in Tampa to help with my urban ministry. It only took two months of dating before I knew that she was for me:). After two kids and many adventures, I still want her by my side more than ever. Well, we are boarding so good bye! - David

Austin's First Soccer Practice!

First came Karate. Now comes soccer:) For us, there is nothing like watching our boys grow up. Each day is filled with new adventures. Courtney and I can truly say that we are living for something more than ourselves.

I hope all of our couples and photography friends are enjoying the holidays! It was fun playing with our new 5d Mark II. This was the first time that I was able to shoot past sunset. Most of these pictures were captured from a 4000 to 6400 ISO.

We got back to the hotel tonight and had to post some of our favorites from the wedding today!

Juliana & William were such a blast to work with! They are adorable together... We can't wait for the newlywed session to get a ton of photos of the two of them.

We are pretty sure they had a wedding crasher! ;) Our friend Christina Wilson came and shot with us today. She was standing by the door and a man walked into the restaurant that Juliana and William had rented out. He asked Christina what was going on and she said a wedding reception. He said it looked really nice and then asked her where the bathroom was. She showed him then continued shooting. A few minutes later she looks up and sees him sitting at one of the tables telling the waiter what he wants to eat and ordering a drink! Neither the bride or groom had ever seen him before!!

On a side note..Juliana did the smartest wedding thing I have ever heard of- She rented her dress! She got to wear an amazing designer dress.. and only had to pay a rental fee! I was so excited when she told me this.. I told her I had to tell all my brides!

Welcome to Boweival!

David and I are so excited to shoot today in Enterprise, Alabama! I have been to the little town of Boweival before... But I had forgotten how small it really was! We drove around for about an hour looking for some place (besides Waffle House) to have breakfast together! We finally had to settle with WH.. So much for having a "romantic" breakfast together without kids! I loved that they had a sign up in there that said " You had a choice... and you chose us! Thanks!". Not so much true in Boweival.

Anyways.. Tomorrow I am hoping to get a picture with the statue that is dedicated to the Boweival. Yes.. It is a town named after a bug. And yes.. There is a statue.

But today we get to shoot another fabulous wedding! Pictures to come soon! I am so excited to shoot with my new 5D Mark II today... We will see what this baby can do!

Ever since I have known David he has wanted to get a certain picture taken. It was something out of Life magazine and it was a silhouette of a father and his two sons... on the sand... with him lifting them up and twirling them around. Just one of those pics that kinda moves you. Anyways- I know one day we will get that shot for him... I think Brady needs to be a little bigger... but here are a couple I got tonight along the same lines. I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them! I wish I would of had my "real" camera to take them with!

ZooLights!

We had fun tonight taking to boys to the Gulf Breeze Zoo to see their annual ZooLights! Because Austin goes to pre-school there, we are members!

Bradyn had been checking out Santa Clause from around my shoulder the whole time we were in line.... this was his immediate reaction to being placed on the leg of the man in the big red suit...Santa must of been a tad bit scary...

Austin loved Santa and told him he wanted a pair of Incredible Hulk gloves for Christmas...

I was sitting in my room watching TV when Austin- my 4 year old- comes running in saying he made something for me. I was so surprised when I saw what he drew!

He has been going to a private christian preschool- and I think they are doing an amazing job! He spelled out "mom" all by himself, and I could not be any prouder!

Very soon after that he made a couple more drawings....

I think we need to work on the "s's" a little bit... but it is the idea that counts right?!

I forgot to "sneak peak" a favorite from Kelly & Chris' wedding, so I thought I would end the night on it. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and David and I are so grateful for this amazing job that God has allowed us to have. We get to work together from our home- and watch our boys grow up. We are very blessed! We are so excited to see what God has in store for our family in the coming years, and SUPER excited to see where our cameras take us- hopefully around the world!

Courtney and I are in Tampa getting ready to capture Kelly and Chris' wedding and visiting family and friends at the same time. Yesterday, we visited my brother-in-law, Ben, at his fire station. Operation Love Reunited

Operation Love Reunited is an amazing organization that sends out photographers to capture photos for families whose parents are either being deployed or are already deployed! David and I love doing these type of shoots because it allows us to give back to our troops for the amazing work that they do- and for their sacrifice!

I had the privilege to do another shoot for them today and was so excited to hear that this family had a newborn- 2 weeks old! I was expecting her to be sleepy... but this little one was awake for the entire shoot!

I forgot to mention my fun adventure last night. Lea wanted a picture with her guests around them with torches. There was no balcony to shoot from, so I requested a ladder. After finding out the ladder was only 6 feet high, I had to improvise. Here is the picture and where I climbed:) - DAVID

I love it when clients want to have fun. I love it when they don't hold back because they are afraid they would look "dumb". I love it when they are as excited about taking their pics as I am about taking them!!!

So I got the Canon 50mm L 1.2..... LOVE IT! I have been wanting this lens for forever! So here are some test shots I did with my little 1 year old... ;)

Studio Update

Courtney and I captured a wedding today in Foley, Alabama! It was Courtney's first time seeing cotton! She is really cute when she gets excited about such a simple thing:) We stopped by the studio on the way home and goofed off. The floors are down and some furniture has been moved in. For the last few months, David and I have been wanting to explore some new adventures. Opening a studio has been on our minds. We are still primarily wedding photographers. Actually, David will be sticking to weddings only. This space is on Highway 98 in Gulf Breeze, FL. It is an answer to many prayers:) The floors are being finished today! Jill + Ian had a gorgeous wedding in Panama City. The rain stopped just long enough for us to get some shots of the two of them down on the docks! David and I love working with this family, and were so excited that we were both going to be able to shoot this wedding! I love working with him- I think our styles compliment each other well. I love looking through pictures and seeing a shot I took, and then the same shot David got from a different angle. Thanks Zimmermans for letting us work with you again! Emily + Kyle got married at the most amazing church I have ever been in. It has recently just been restored.. and the work they did on it was incredible! They held their reception outside under a white tent at the Portier House which was built in 1833. It was also an amazing place to shoot in. It had rained all day- so we were so blessed to have such an amazing place to do the portraits!

Brittany + Casey met up us with in Seaside, FL to do a Flirt session this past Friday. David and I love being able to do these sessions together because we both have the same style, but different at the same time! That is also why we get super excited when we get to shoot a wedding together! Brittany + Casey were so fun, and we love that they brought their dogs along. Brittany could not stop smiling.. and we love that in our brides! Seaside, FL is an amazing destination spot to get married in, and we can't wait for their wedding! We are SOOOO excited to announce our new website and business name! This is something David and I have been working on for about a year now. We knew we needed to change the business name since I (Courtney) was not the only photographer anymore. In addition to David, we also have a few associates that shoot weddings for us as well. So we decided on Sublime Studios for the business name!

We have also been designing a new website.. and are pretty excited to finally release it! I am really excited about the intro that leads into the site...

kelly and Chris are Engaged!

What a week! Courtney and I loved the David Jay conference in Orlando on Thursday. We decided to spend a week with my family afterward and shoot some engagement shoots. Even though we are in the Florida panhandle, we still have a lot of central Florida clients. Kelly and Chris are an extremely happy couple and I enjoyed spending the day with them. I also loved shooting back at my home town, Ybor City. I hope everyone enjoys! - DAVID

We are Free to Succeed!

Thursday David and I drove over to Orlando and joined my rockstar brother and sister in law Jeremy + Kara Pennington to go to the David Jay Free to Succeed convention! If he is coming to your city.... get a ticket! He is so humble in his approach, and really knows what he is talking about! And what he says makes sense which is so refreshing in a photography world where everybody has an opinion about something. We covered so much in the 4 hours we were there.

We also had the awesome opportunity to go to an after party/ social and hang out with DJ and his girlfriend Ally a little more. She was so nice and easy to talk to... they make a great team!

Thanks so much DJ for sharing with all of us. We had a great time!

I know this must be how the Zimmerman family is feeling this "hurricane-ish" Monday morning. This past Saturday they married off a second daughter to another wonderful guy! This is just sneak peak at what is to come... This is Julie's sister Jill! We were so excited when her mom called us to shoot the second wedding in 2 months... whew! Austin Started School!

Michele + Joe.....

I have known Michele since she was born! I still laugh at her older brother Brian and tell him that I was always the smart one... I tell him I taught him how to spell his name. Brian and I went to pre-school together, and Michele was the same age as my younger brother Jeremy. On a side note... (Brian is the videographer for our company!) Our mom's have been best friends since I can remember. It is kind of neat because my parents live up here in Navarre also, and Marty (Michele's mom) also lives close by. The third lady in the group, who has also been there since the beginning (Melody) lives in Atlanta, so this wedding was a ton of fun for the three of them! My dad also had the honor of co-marrying them alongside the father of the bride.

Michele + Joe got married at the Jekyll Island Club in Jekyll Island, GA. It was GORGEOUS! The place is full of history with cottages surrounding it. I love "wedding weekends".. they are a blast to be a part of. And it could not of been at a better location!

Michele + Joe- THANKS SO MUCH for letting me be a part of this day! You were both stunning... and everyone could see how much you loved each other.
